Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy

Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy was formed in Runcorn, Cheshire in 2010. As the first Academy in Runcorn, Bolingbroke is a groundbreaking endeavour, backed by our sponsors the Ormiston Trust. Officially opened on the 3rd September 2010, Bolingbroke Academy has since enjoyed a growing reputation as an improving school with high standards and expectations. The Academy has achieved and maintained excellent results, with more than 60% of Year 11 students achieving 5 or more GCSEs at grades A* to C including English and maths every year for the last three years. This is well above the national average and has put the Academy at the top of the league table for Runcorn. The sixth form has also achieved fantastic results since inception, with the pass rate every year standing at least at 99%, again above the national average. Art Dept info: The OBA art department aims to develop students' confidence through a programme of visual study that encourages breadth and depth in the development of a creative & personal visual language. Students have opportunities to generate ideas and research from primary and contextual sources, record their findings, experiment with media and processes and develop and refine their ideas towards producing a portfolio that evidences their learning journey. Students learn about how artists use creative ways to communicate their ideas to create exciting and inspiring outcomes.
